Positions may be filled as an internship as part of an academic program, or as a volunteer project; the requirements and skills gained are the same either way.  Stipends are not currently available, but interns are encouraged to seek financial assistance through their own institutions. Additionally, once you have completed your term as an intern, you may receive priority and consideration to participate in our field programs.

    Meet our current interns here.

Field Research Intern

Participants who have already completed our western Ecuador research program may opt to continue independent study beyond the length of the expedition. Those with a strong ability to work independently under rigorous conditions with proficiency in Spanish might consider this option.  See the project pages for a description of the project as a whole. Interns may contribute to work already in progress or may, in assistance with our organization, develop their own project which may could potentially contribute to a thesis or dissertation. Interns pay their own expenses, which comes to approximately $650/month. Reptile Research provides logistical support in the field and continuing through analysis and publication, and data is shared between our organization and the intern. There are a variety of projects available, which are developed in conjunction with the Intern. These include study at additional study sites as well as undertaking different topics and methods at existing sites. In some cases, an internship can turn into a graduate thesis or dissertation.
